HISTORY OF ART

The course entails the study of the history of art, the division into periods of history in terms of main periods (e.g.: classic period, medieval period, modern period, etc) and in detail (e.g.: Greek period, Roman period, late ancient period, Dark Ages, etc); the classification of figurative civilisations and styles in relation to these periods (e.g.: Romanesque art, Gothic art, Renaissance art, etc); the study of the main artists and their most important works.
Study of the history of artistic and artisan techniques in relation to the workshop concerned, the ability to distinguish a work of art on the basis of the language used (e.g.: painting or plastic work, etc); study of the main iconographic elements in order to recognise the subject of a work of art.
