"BOTTEGA - SCUOLA" project

The 2005 edition of the Bottega Scuola Project will start in September. The course is organised by the Piedmont Region to put emphasis on the importance of typical and traditional artistic artisan businesses and involve youngsters in professions which are not widely known but that have a high professional content also in terms of quality and image.The project foresees 140 apprenticeships in 140 selected companies in the region, operating in the following sectors: wood, wood restoration, ceramic, precious metals, glass, printing and bindery, textiles and clothing, musical instruments, food (Chocolate, sweets, torrone, confectionery and ice-cream production, dairy food, distilled liquors, beer and torrefaction products) that have been awarded the "Piedmont Excellence in Craftsmanship" certification.

As part of the LIFELONG TRAINING projects the School for Artisan Restorers organised its first technical demonstration which took place on 21 June 2005 on:
"LASER CLEANING applied to surfaces of wooden handmade objects".

During the meeting which took place in the Salone della Pace in SERMIG's headquarters, the participants were given an introductory explanation of the principle of laser cleaning and how it works, then under the supervision of the Speaker they cleaned some wooden surfaces.
